Love me tender, 2020

Graphite on Stonehenge paper 250g. 127x188 cm

The series of drawings Love me tender focuses on the multitude, on aggressive masses in which each individuality merges and disappears. The series represents (almost only) male faces caught between aggressive self-assertion and the abject fear and vulnerability that underlies and propels their manifest entitlement. As depictions of men and manhood, they expose the myths and machinations of patriarchy and recall political and religious movements, online gatherings, sporting events, and all moments where faith and violence are pivotal.
