I see you, 2021

Binaural audio track 2’30”, steel, headphones, velvet cushion. Environmental dimensions.

with Allison Grimaldi Donahue

I see you is a sound installation made of two elements. The visible one is a red velvet cushion on the ground, under two headphones suspended in the air. They outline a space for a human body bent on the knees, inspired by the shape of the kneelers present in the aisles of churches. The body that fills that void is forced into a position that suggests submission and helplessness, but also faith and hope. The second element is an acoustic element: a declaration of love in the form of poetry, written by the contemporary poet Allison Grimaldi Donahue, is whispered by the artist’s voice in the ears of the kneeling visitor.
